About Our School

Benchley-Weinberger is a dynamic, high performing, California Distinguished School with a focus on Achievement through Communication. We are nestled amid the picturesque rolling hills by Mission Trails Regional Park.

Our students bring diverse cultural, ethnic, academic, socioeconomic and personal backgrounds from 56 different areas of the district. Our ethnic diversity promotes a positive awareness and understanding of many cultures and is enhanced by an annual multicultural fair.

We want all children to have a passion for learning. To achieve this we offer them a challenging curriculum teaching high-level skills in interpersonal communication, global media communication and artistic alternative communication.

Our students learn artistic and alternative communication through art, music and sign language in kindergarten, pen and e-pals, physical education and a variety of grade level assemblies.

We offer specific learning opportunities for high achieving students in grades 3-5 and a lower student to teacher ratio and innovative teaching practices through collaboration with the San Diego State University's School of Education student-teacher program.

One of the most important components of our school is the incredible support we receive from our hundreds of volunteers, enriching our school beyond measure. We welcome visitors to come see the Benchley-Weinberger school community in action.
